Man Wants $126,000 Church Donation Back, Church Says No
- KARE
Marcel Mager of Cloquet says he made the anonymous donation during a time of emotional distress and thought giving the church money would ease his pain. His wife had left him two weeks prior to the January 1999 donation. It was nearly their entire life savings.

- We are told in 2 Corinthians 9:6-10
to be generous and giving. Scripture also tells us not to hold on
tight to our possessions because they are just going to burn and there
are no U-Haull's that deliver to Heaven so you can't take it with
you.
- With the above in mind, Would you consider a tithe or donation to
be a sacrifice? Why or why not? What is your view on giving - do you
give to get anything in return? Jesus said in Matthew
25, "...inasmuch as you did it to the least of these...
you did it to me." Do you think that if you give to any organization
or cause, you are actually giving to God? What does that mean to you?
- What could the repercussions be if the church gave back this man's
money? Should the church be responsible for the well-being of an individual
who suffers because of a monetary gift they gave?
- Look up these verses and see if they change your thinking or add
any more to you discussion: 2 Corinthians 8:10-9:15;
Psalm 15:4; Matthew 5:37; 8:19-20; 25:34-40
