When your teen falls in love - TODAY SHOW
Teen romance is not a new phenomenon. In fact, many of our grandparents were married quite young and began their own families in their latter teenage years. But nowadays it seems like even little kids are having crushes on both peers and celebrities, and tweens and teens are more actively engaged in the “hunt” for a partner. Being “single” at the ripe old age of 15 can be seen as abnormal by many kids, especially those who hang out with peers in the fast lane and aspire to be, act and look like the celebs on MTV.

  • What is your definition of "Boyfriend and Girlfriend?" What is your definition of "a date?" What is the purpose of dating?

  • When do you think it's okay to date? What do you think are reasonable age differences? What are you looking for in a date (i.e. nice hair, dresses well, doesn't stink)? When should you be able to kiss (how long into a relationship and at what age)?

  • How long should you be in a relationship before you give gifts to each other? What is the worst gift you've ever received from someone of the opposite sex? What made it bad? How did you feel? How did the giver of the gift feel when they found out you did not like it?

  • How much information do you think a parent should know about someone you like (i.e. background, home life, GPA, past relationships, criminal record...)? How old do you have to be before it doesn't matter what your parents think?

  • Develop or reiterate your family's rules/guidelines on dating.
