TODAY'S DIALOGUE - February 19, 2003
This page is updated weekdays by 2 pm PT.

Poverty in America -
If you're a poor adult in America, for the most part, it's all your fault. That's true, at least today, whether you're black, white, brown or polka dot.

  • Do you fear being in poverty? Why or why not? What steps have you taken to stay out of it? What other steps can you take?

  • Whose fault is it if someone is in poverty? Whose responsibility is it to get people out of poverty?

  • The article mentioned drugs, alcohol and having babies as a few examples of a destructive lifestyle that leads to poverty. What are some other examples of a destructive lifestyle (gambling, pride, pornography, greed, smoking, lying...)?

  • Proverbs 20:13; 28:19; 30:8; 2 Timothy 5:8 -- What is our duty to the poor? Psalm 41:1; Matthew 5:42; 25:35-36; Isaiah 58:7-10; Ephesians 4:28; Proverbs 31:9, 20; Luke 18:22; Romans 12:8.
