The Marriage Is Over, but What About Fido?
- ABC News
"It does not come up frequently, but when it does, it's a big time issue," said Gary Skoloff, a New Jersey family law attorney and the former chairman of the family law section of the American Bar Association. "People are willing to litigate the custody of their pet to the end. It becomes almost like fighting over the custody of a child."

Rap music sags in popularity
-
ASSOCIATED PRESS
After decades of glamorizing drug-deals, violence and prostitution, sales of rap music slid 21% from 2005-2006. For the first time in 12 years, no rap album made it on the top ten seller list. In a recent poll, 50% of black Americans said "hip-hop was a negative force in American society". Does what you listen to impact who you are?

-
According to Tracy Denean Sharpley-Whiting, a professor at Vanderbilt University, most young black women felt rappers portrayed other women in their songs. "They're not calling me a b_ _ _ _, they're not taking about me, they're talking about those women," she said. "But then it became clear that, you know what? Those women can be any women." How do negative stereotypes affect our image of people in society? How do they affect our image of ourselves?
-
See Proverbs 4:23 and Mark 7: 21-23. How do you think our thoughts sink into our hearts? Why is it important to "guard your heart"?
-
See Philippians 4: 8-9. Why does Paul encourage us to fill our minds with these kinds of thoughts?
-
Many Americans feel rap music encourages negative thoughts about black culture and the value of women. Name some other ways you think our culture influences us(ideas about fashion, body image, acceptable language, acceptable behavior, etc.).
-
See Hebrews 4: 12-13. How do you use the Bible as a standard to judge music, movies and video games? What kinds of questions should you ask about them?
- See James 1: 5. What should you do when you aren't sure about something?

How do you define success for your child? “Graduates from a prestigious college.” “Nabs a high-paying job.” “Settles down with a nice family.” Sounds good. But what if you got it all wrong?
What about greatness? Where does it fit in? “If you aim your children at anything less than greatness, you’ll set them up to miss the whole point of their lives,” says author Tim Kimmel. In Raising Kids for True Greatness, Kimmel turns the definition of success on its head and guides you in preparing your child for a life that will easily eclipse the goals of those who are merely successful.
