The Marriage Is Over, but What About Fido?
- ABC News
"It does not come up frequently, but when it does, it's a big time issue," said Gary Skoloff, a New Jersey family law attorney and the former chairman of the family law section of the American Bar Association. "People are willing to litigate the custody of their pet to the end. It becomes almost like fighting over the custody of a child."

Hutsells 'weak link in the parenting chain'
-
Lake County News
A Chicago-area couple is convicted after hosting a party where teens used both alcohol and marijuana. After driving his car into a tree at the end of Hutsell's drive, one partygoer killed himself and another passenger. The Hutsells, who were watching a baseball game upstairs, claim they were unaware illegal substances were being used at their home. Is ignorance truly bliss? How do the decisions you make today affect who you are tomorrow?

-
Do you think the Hutsells should be held accountable for what happened at the party? Why do you think they did not supervise what was happening in the basement more closely?
-
What would you have done if you were a partygoer that night? How do you approach situations where others are making poor choices? What will you face if you do what is right in this type of situation?
-
The peer pressure involved in a teenage drinking party can lead weak-willed kids to make dangerous choices. How are Christians equipped to handle those situations? Read 1 Corinthians 10:13 and 2 Timothy 1:7.
-
How do you think the other teens who were at the Hutsells' party feel today?.
-
Why would God put you in situations where you must stand for what is right and good? See Deuteronomy 8: 2-5. What did God learn about the Israelites during their trials in the desert?
-
Trials often force us to give up something we have come to love--our independence, pride, wealth, popularity, or comfort. How do you think temptations, like being part of the "in crowd", help forge our faith? Read 1 Peter 1: 6-7.

How do you define success for your child? “Graduates from a prestigious college.” “Nabs a high-paying job.” “Settles down with a nice family.” Sounds good. But what if you got it all wrong?
What about greatness? Where does it fit in? “If you aim your children at anything less than greatness, you’ll set them up to miss the whole point of their lives,” says author Tim Kimmel. In Raising Kids for True Greatness, Kimmel turns the definition of success on its head and guides you in preparing your child for a life that will easily eclipse the goals of those who are merely successful.
