  • Was this the right decision? What do you think the coach communicated with his decision?

  • What decision would you have made if you were the coach? What do you think it communicates to the team, the school board and the community if you resign or quit for not being able to lead your team in prayer before a game day meal? What does it communicate if you do not quit and honor the officials' decision?

  • Come up with a list of pros and cons to resigning/quitting. Based on what you come up with, what would be the best action to take in this situation? What if this was your coach, what would you do? Would you step up and lead prayer? Why or why not?

  • How is this situation different than what Daniel went through?
    • Daniel was told to pray to a pagan god - this coach was not.
    • Daniel could not pray to his God ever - this coach could pray to whom ever he wants whenever he wants, just not during a school function.

Raising Kids for True Greatness

How do you define success for your child? “Graduates from a prestigious college.” “Nabs a high-paying job.” “Settles down with a nice family.” Sounds good. But what if you got it all wrong?

What about greatness? Where does it fit in? “If you aim your children at anything less than greatness, you’ll set them up to miss the whole point of their lives,” says author Tim Kimmel. In Raising Kids for True Greatness, Kimmel turns the definition of success on its head and guides you in preparing your child for a life that will easily eclipse the goals of those who are merely successful.
