Mass Media Reach More Adults With the Christian Message Than Do Churches
- Barna Research
Many Americans assume that the most common way of experiencing
the Christian faith is by attending a church service. A new nationwide
survey by the Barna Research Group, of Ventura, California, reports
a different conclusion. A greater number of adults experience the Christian
faith through Christian media, such as radio, television or books, than
attend Christian churches.

- Can you substitute media (TV, Radio, Books, etc.) for attending
church? Explain.
- Why do you think people would rather hear Christian programing and
not want to attend church? What do you think this says about Christian
programing? What do you think it says about church programing?
- How effective do you think the church is in regards to evangelism?
Where is it doing well? What could it do to improve? What will you
do about it?
- Who's job is it to evangelize, the church or the parishioners?
- What scriptures come to mind?
Acts 1:7-8; Ephesians 4:11-13; 1
Timothy 4:6, 13; Hebrews 10:25
Cruise
Kids to Live 'Far and Away' - Fox News
Cruise, whose character became similarly disillusioned
with America in Born on the Fourth of July, said raising children in
the U.S. is a risky business. He said he could no longer keep his 'eyes
wide shut' to America's terrorism threat, crime, faltering financial
status and corporate corruption.

Note: The
questions are not numbered so you won't feel obligated to ask them
in order. Read all of the questions first to see how you want this
dialogue to go.
- Does Tom Cruise still have you at hello? Do you agree with him that
this country is playing "Taps" in these "Days of Thunder"
over the "Color of Money" from "The Firm"?
- Just days before we celebrate the birth of the greatest nation
on God's green earth, Tom Cruise says it's a terrible place to raise
kids. What do you think about raising kids in America?
- Sometimes we learn life's lessons the best from negative examples.
What lessons have you learned from the Enron scandal, the "faltering
economy", crime that you see on the news or maybe even where
you live, even from the terrorist attacks and the threat of them on
the 4th?
- What scriptures come to mind?
Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 4:9-10;
11:19; Psalm 78:4; Ephesians 6:4
