School's out - Washinton Times
Christian leaders who once told parents to send their children to public schools to be "witnesses" to "the salt of the earth" now warn that those schools are unsafe and are agents of moral decay. "It's not just about indoctrination or censorship of 'under God' in the Pledge," said Joseph Farah, editor of the independent Web magazine WorldNetDaily. "The issue is what happens to your kids when you place them in a school with children who are products of the pop culture.

  • What do you think Christians should do about the pubic school issue?

  • When should Christians surrender ground to Satan or the world?

  • Is the public school situation too big for God to handle? Where the cannibals in South America who killed Jim Elliot so powerful that God could not reach them?

  • Who's responsibility is it to make sure children know and LIVE out Biblical values and principles, right and wrong, as well as moral absolutes? (schools - private or home - or their parents)

  • If the Christian populace - or everyone dissatisfied with the public school system - is so numerous that pulling everybody out would make a statement or cause the system to change, then why cant it make just as much of a statement by staying in and being a loud, united voice?

  • Which do you think makes you stronger - to learn Biblical values while in opposition? Or to learn Biblical values without opposition until you get into the real world?

  • What other Bible verses come to mind?
    James 1:2-8; Romans 10:14-15; Numbers 13:1-14:19; Philippians 4:13; Matthew 17:19-20; 14: 22-32; 28:18-20
